Whatever's Good For Your Soul|Book Bingo

Life has taken some interesting turns, and in reflecting and taking stock I've been trying to sort out what is important from what isn't...well, I didn't think blogging was all that important. Until my son said that it is a part of me that will always be around - I guess so long as Blogger is around. So in my quest for encouragement...I seem to be into pithy sayings lately, and this is one of my favorites by Lizzie Kate

Reading fits that criteria. And while I'm not sure how this summer is going to go, I couldn't pass up the chance to join summer book bingo again this year. I believe summer book bingo began with Books on the Nightstand (sadly no longer doing podcasts) but, Mary is very kindly carrying on with it (thank you, Mary!!!). She has done an excellent job in coming up with a wide range of categories, and I'm very excited about the card I got.

I may try something new this year and make my selections as I go along although, I do have a few books I want to read this summer and believe they will fit with some of these categories. I have very fond memories of spending my summer vacation from school reading, and while I don't get a summer vacation anymore, I still think reading and summer just go together.

And even though I'm pretty sure this will bring out the hateful person that loves to send me nasty emails - my latest bookstore acquisitions. Books bring me joy, and that is really the only thing I need to say. 😉

Lola has found what brings her joy - sunning her dusty head after a busy morning of bird and squirrel watching.

Hope you are finding things that bring you joy! Until next time, take care.

So good to see a post from you, Penny--I've missed you and hope life's twists and turns will straighten out for you from now on. You just never know, do you? Your son is right--that is why I keep blogging even though it seems to be a dying art. It is like a little record of my life and I love looking back at it.

Your finish is darling--and a perfect sentiment for all of us to follow. Like you, reading and stitching are my best "good for the soul" hobbies. Thank goodness for the way they can carry you through even the most stressful times. We are doing Bookshelf Bingo at our library again this summer--hope I have more filled in slots than last year :)

Lovely stitching !! I can't stay for long from my hobbies. They are a part of life and I guess we must give some importance as these things are stress busters unless we are bitten by startitis bug :D

I LOVE that stitching! ... and your plan for summer reading. (I can't imagine who would be sending nasty emails about books and/or reading - for sure not those of us who love your blog!) I bought Beartown this morning - look forward to hearing what you think about the Paula Hawkins. I'm sure it will be a bookclub pick at some point :-) (take care of you!)

Great saying on your stitched piece. Love your pile of books too! Now why does that nasty person exist? Seriously! Hope all is well with you!

A lovely stitched piece. Lovely to see a little word or two here from you, blogging seems to have been taken over by instagram and FB but I don't do either of those.
Nice books you have chosen for your summer challenge.

It's always so nice to see a new post from you and to see what you are up to. Still into stitching and books as I can see.
I love the saying of your L*K piece.
And the book bingo sounds very interesting. I have tried such things from time to time hoping that I will read more when doing so but the more plans I establish the less I read. That's kind of strange. But maybe one day my reading mojo will come back, you never know.
