Seeing Blue While Going Nutty (Thanksgiving)

Hello everyone!

It seems impossible that November is almost over. Our warm temperatures make it even harder to believe that it is this late in the year, but I will never complain about the warmth. I don't think our colors here were as pretty as in past years, but still some pretty color to be found here and there.

Thanksgiving seems to become more complicated each year. We are kind of a divided family right now, so Thanksgiving means eating two meals at different homes to keep everyone happy. We will actually end up eating three meals this year. Call me crazy, but I actually enjoy preparing a meal for the three of us ~ husband, son and of course myself. Maybe three meals will fatten me up a little. It has been a slow process of healing from some extensive gum surgery and bone grafting back in May, and as a result I've lost approximately 25 pounds. While my weight was creeping up a little higher than I would have liked I did not need to lose this much.

So, the three of us got together and planned our meal. It always gets out of hand. :)

Do you have a favorite Thanksgiving recipe? Since we really haven't any family hand me down recipes, we will be borrowing (trying for the first time) Grandmother Carter's cornbread stuffing. And I think we need a test run on the Apple Cream Cheese Bundt Cake.

Finally finished this little piece. Oh. My. Goodness. I love it, but I'm pretty sure I've stitched enough acorns for a while. I was seeing them in my dreams.

Speaking of dreams ~ Lola had just finished her breakfast and was deep into dream land.

I really want to thank those who stopped by my last post!!! This has been a very rough year and even though I was never a frequent blogger, it is a little bit of normality, and I desperately need that right now. I'm thinking my blog may be a little different and I hope you will continue to visit. It seems blogging isn't as popular as it once was and I'm finding more and more bloggers on Instagram.

Thank you for visiting and I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Love your new Queen finish! Makes me want to stitch it right up!

Modern families certainly do require adaptation at holiday time. I think the Thanksgiving dinner I'm attending won't be starting till really late to accommodate the some family members who have to attend multiple ones. Glad I'm attending and not cooking though!

What an awesome fall stitch!
Lola is so funny sleeping like that! :D
I will still be blogging! I don't do FB or Instagram.
I hope you find this. I am not able to email you any longer. Every message bounces back to me.

Same problem as Vickie on the e-mail for me.

Penny, I'm sorry it's been a tough year for you. Gum surgery sounds pretty awful. I hope you have a nice (three in fact) Thanksgiving meal.

Very cute stitching!

What a cute kitty! The Fall stitch is just beautiful. I am with you. This has probably been the most difficult Fall of my life. Blogging does seem to bring a sense of normal to my life. I hope you are doing better all the time.

Fun post! Good to see a post from you too. So sorry to hear of your health woes -- not fun. :( Sorry to hear you have a divided family too. Love your stitching, love your kitty! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

I actually think the camaraderie you find through blogging is so helpful and supportive during stressful times, Penny. Without the support of my blogging friends when my husband broke his neck in May, I doubt I would have gotten through the ordeal nearly as well...

I hear you on the gum surgery! I recently had a tooth removed, major bone grafting, and also lost weight (but only four pounds, thank goodness, as I'm very petite to begin with!)... At least all the meals at Thanksgiving will help you regain some pounds.

Your stitched piece is darling--so glad you enjoyed it so much and I'm very happy to have you back in the blogging world. I don't do Instagram or FB and am sad that so many have left for those formats. Blogging just seems so much more personal...

Your email address was bounced back to me when I tried to thank you for your nice comment on my post last week... So thank you!!

What a lovely finish this is. And just perfect for this time of the year.

Gum surgery sounds very painful and the healing process certainly wasn't very fast. BUt so glad to read that you are over it.

I hope that you will stay with blogging. So many left the blogging sphere and are now on other platforms. Unfortunately I can't reach them any longer as I'm not doing FB or IG. BUt it's a question of what you prefer. As long as there are stitching blogs that I love reading I will stay here :)

Happy Thanksgiving.

Love your finish.

Glad to hear you are recovering from the gum surgery. That sounds painful.

I don't like Instagram even though I do have it. I will stick to blogging as I much prefer it.

Love the finished piece so sweet and so perfect for this time of year.
Ouch gum surgery, oh my, I hope you are healing as fast as you want.
Blondie the cat says hello Lola, you look so comfortable laying that way, I take naps after breakfast too.
I am a blogger not Facebook or anything else, just love blogging.

Happy Thanksgiving
