Been Awhile

I really don't know where to start, except to say my heart really hasn't been in stitching, reading, or much else. There is a very good possibility that my husband will be losing his job of 25 years somewhere around the new year. Just trying to come to terms with all that this means has been mind-boggling. When I look at something I have stitched, I can remember what was going on in my life at the time. What I was watching, reading, etc. I have enjoyed On Diligence very much and while I have made some minimal progress, I just don't want to look at it later and remember this mess.

I'm waiting for the day I can just put one big picture up and be done with it. In the meantime, I finished Come Buy My Sweet Flowers by Heartstring Samplery. I really love all of her designs.

Feelings are starting to settle down a little and I hope to be finished with On Diligence by my next post. My son told me I began this blog as a way to keep on track with my stitching and that I'm looking for loopholes now. HA HA I guess a little humor is needed :)))

Leaving you with a couple of cat pictures of Lola during catnip and after catnip

I have had a hard time uploading pictures this time, so I apologize for the different sizes. Hope I haven't been a downer. I really appreciate everyone who takes the time to read my blog and leave a comment, it means a lot to me.

Oh Penny, I'm so sorry about your DH's job. What a shock it must be for you and DH both. I hope things work out for the best and your DH can find another job or whatever his plans may be. It's so hard right now for everyone, it seems. Hugs to you.

Your On Diligence is so spectacular! I just love the colors so much! I may have to dig this one out -- you are quite inspirational to me. I know what you mean about remembering what's going on when you're stitching something. I hope On Diligence isn't marred by this.

Your Come Buy is beautiful as well! Congrats on the finsh!

Lola is so cute! It's funny -- Mia couldn't care less about catnip. Well, she will take a sniff and vaguely play with a catnip toy, but then she'll just turn her nose up at it after a cursory play. It's very odd. Coffee on the other hand. lol!

Hi Penny,
I am sorry to hear the news about your DH. There is so much to think about and deal with when something like this happens. I hope that since he has been at one job for so long that there are some benefits available.
The stitching is beautiful. I hope that your stitching mojo returns soon.
Lola definitely looks like she has a catnip hangover in that second pic.
Hugs

(((((((((((((((Penny)))))))))))))) I am so sorry about your husband's job. Fingers crossed that things work out. I can understand how you feel... it's like you don't want to contaminate your stitching with bad thoughts/feelings. Life here hasn't been too great with the recession and things just seem to go from bad to worse. I've had days where I just sit and don't do anything because I can't function with worry. I know how you feel! Hang in there. Try to look at your stitching as a means of comfort. It's beautiful! Love the finish.

Lola is adorable!

Penny I'm so sorry that you and your DH have this uncertainty hanging over your heads about his job. Things are so bad for so many these days and it is such a worry. Little wonder that you haven't been feeling too much like stitching. Your 'On Diligence' is such a lovely piece though and I do love your Heartstring Samplery finish.

I know just what you mean about a piece of handwork holding all the memories of a time; I wrote a post last summer about the first quilt I made, and all it recorded for me. Times are just so awful right now, and having such a huge potential Sword of Damocles disruption hanging over your heads must be paralyzing, at times. I hope things turn out better than you fear, and I hope you just keep stitching.

And thank heavens for sons who help with perspective. :)

Penny, with everything going on I can't believe you took the time to comment on my blog. Thank you so much... you have no idea what that means to me. :) It may not seen like it now, but there really are brighter days ahead and I'll hold you and your DH in my prayers. Your finish is gorgeous. I'm happy dancing with you! ((((hugs))))

Penny, I can truly empathize with your concerns about your DH's job. My husband lost his job twice in 3+ half years and was out 2 years the second time. When he couldn't find another job in the high tech field, he retrained to be a medical biller/coder, and was blessed to get a job. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Your stitching on "Diligence" is beautiful. Once when one of our sons was gravely ill, I stitched a piece that I wondered about how I would feel, because it was such a terribly difficult time in our family. Now, it hangs on our wall and stands as a testimony to the fact that we were brought through that trial, and our son is alive and well. Perhaps "Diligence" will be a similar testimony for you in the future.
Prayers & Blessings....

Penny, I know how you are feeling. My husband was told he had to take a big paycut and demotion or leave as he had to make way for the younger generation. He is only 51 but is being made to feel like he is ready for a nursing home. And now the company is doing badly...no new projects in sight...so he still will probably be laid off next year. We look at it as we will cross that bridge when we come to it but life is becoming harder and harder with people becoming so towards each other. That is why our stitching world is important. We find support with each other!

I hope you can find the peace in your heart to work away on Diligence. I am that same about my needlework. All I do now will remind me of trying to be patient and strong during the active phase of this eye disease. But your little Beth Twist finish is wonderful!!! I too love her work.

Hugs from Holland ~
